K.C.'s Crazy Chase MSX1/MSX2

The Videopac/Odyssey² classic comes to MSX!

Guide K.C. through the maze and gobble up the Dratapillar one segment at a time—but watch out for its deadly head and the two roaming Drats! Clear each round and the chase gets faster.

The Videopac was my first console, and Crazy Chase was my favourite game on it. This faithful port brings that childhood favourite to MSX, preserving the original look and gameplay, including its built-in maze editor.

Release notes

• Playable on MSX1 and MSX2.
• New intro/title screen.
• Screen 4 support on MSX2 reduces sprite flicker when characters share the same horizontal line.
• Keyboard controls and joystick support through either MSX port.
• Start the default game mode with Space or joystick Fire.
• Original game selection and custom maze editor retained.

Controls

Title screen

Press joystick Fire or move the joystick to dismiss the title screen.

Game selection

• 0–9: Select a game mode.
• Space / Fire: Start game mode 0.
• P: Open the maze editor.

During play

Use the cursor keys or a joystick in either port to steer K.C. There is no action button—your appetite does all the work!

Maze editor

• Return: Enable wall editing.
• A–G, followed by a column digit: Toggle a wall at that location.
• Y: Play your custom maze.
• Backspace / Home: Redraw the maze.

A keyboard is required to select other game modes and use the maze editor.
